The Answer is $186

You may wonder what the question is that corresponds to the title of this post. The question is "What is the fine for duct taping your child to the chair and forcing him to wear a jersey". Evidently in Green Bay last weekend Mathew Kowald was so upset that his 7 year old son refused to wear a Packers jersey that he duct taped him to a chair for an hour and also taped a Packers jersey to him. While Kowald was doing this his wife was taking pictures with her cell phone. The next day she notified police of what occurred and Kowald was arrested. He was held in county jail until Wednesday where he was arraigned, pleaded no contest, and charged a fine of $186 before he was released.

Wow, $186 is all you have to come off of to traumatize a 7 year old these days. This should be inspiration to abusive parents everywhere that while it would be inconvenient to stay two nights in jail you can be out on the street again in two days and not even spend 2 Benjamins. We hear stories all the time about parents who spank their kids in public places being threatened with having their children taken away from them yet this guy ties his kid up for an hour while his wife watched and he only has to pay $186. What makes this even better is the DA was quoted in the article as saying "legally a parent can restrain a child". Really??? I honestly did not know that. I have no kids and would never "restrain" one but come on, all the stuff we see and hear on the news and now it's legal to restrain your child? Of course the father is full of remorse, he is quoted as saying "I didn't mean no harm and he knows that" heart felt words from a real stand up guy. I think a fitting punishment for this guy would be to duct tape him in an Eli Manning jersey and make him sit in the Giants locker room while Michael Strahan and the rest of the Giant D line get showers.
